Stone Temple Pilots released their sophomore album, Purple, in the summer of 1994. The highly regarded work featured several illustrious hits, including “Big Empty,” “Vasoline,” and “Interstate Love Song.” The album peaked at number 1 on the Billboard 200 and later sold over six million copies in the U.S., making it the second best-selling album of their career. After Purple, Stone Temple Pilots moved on to have a phenomenal career with six subsequent studio efforts, all of which made waves on the Billboard charts. All in all, the band has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
In the same year, +Live+ released their third album, Throwing Copper. The effort spawned several of the band’s most popular singles, including number 1 rock singles “Selling the Drama” and “Lightning Crashes.” The effort also spawned three more Top 5 charting singles, “I Alone” and “All Over You.” Throwing Copper sold over eight million copies in the U.S., making it +Live+’s best-selling album to date.
