It has been over ten years since Matchbox Twenty last released an album. Their 2012 effort, which spawned hits “She’s So Mean” and “Overjoyed,” was released with flying colors, topping the Billboard 200 and Top Rock Albums charts. The album’s success was also not limited to U.S. shores. North entered the charts in over 15 countries, even entering the top ten in four major markets. Moreover, the album is certified gold and platinum in the U.S. and Australia. Matchbox Twenty is no stranger to earning certifications for their studio efforts.
In 1996, they dropped their debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You, via Atlantic. The album sold over 12 million copies in the U.S., earning the band its first diamond certification. Meanwhile, the record spawned the megahits “3 am” and “Push,” which also earned multi-platinum status in several other countries.
The band’s exemplary works led to multiple accolades, including a People’s Choice Award, four Grammy nominations, and five American Music Award nominations.
